Juniors U16 Match Report - 2007-8

It started off as a lovely Sunday morning, the sun shining, what a nice day to play rugby.
Redcar turned up to win this game, as when we played them away, it was very close, as they were winning 7-0 at half time, then we switched on, and started to play some real good rugby, and finishing the game 28-7, which was a great comeback. Mowden also wanted to prove that they were the team to beat, playing really well this season. Redcar started the game with a good restart from the fly half, putting mowden under pressure right from the start, great work from the forwards, and a clearance kick from mowden’s fly half, put mowden back on their front foot. The game went on, both sides with some great defense, and some great attacking. Finally mowden broke though, working to the right hand side of the pitch, then giving the backs some room to run, and mowdens 15, Adam Cornwell scoring in the left corner. 5-0. A great take off the restart, by mowdens pack, driving Redcar up the field. A few turnovers from Redcar, which made mowden having to defend, the ball between the two teams, working up and down the field. Mowden were working towards the right hand side again, where the horrible ground was, then mowdens fly half, Sam Errington hit Russell westgarth on a long pass, and a great line by Russell, resulting in a try. Sam Converted. 12-0. Mowden then again worked up the field, as No. 15 Adam Cornwell, Got High tackled, resulting in a penalty. Then Redcars No.5 was killing the ball, which resulted in another penalty.

the game was restarted by Mowden, good take by Redcar, and driving up the pitch, they worked to the left hand side all the way down the pitch, until they got to near mowdens try line, for the next 5-10 minutes, trys were been held up, but in the end Redcar scored, but they didn’t convert the try. 12-5. Mowden restarted the game, which a great take from Mowdens No.7 Andrew Bell, winning the ball back, Redcar handled in the ruck, and the ball was given to Sam To Get 3 points for mowden from just before the 10 metre line. 15-5. Redcar restarted, with a knock on from mowden off the kick off. Redcar had about 15 minutes on mowdens try line, tyring to break through the defense, but it wasn’t happening, trys been help up, and some great big tackles from Mowden. After 15 minutes, after Redcars hard work, the ball popped out the blind side, and Mowdens No.15 Adam, picked it up,a nd ran to Redcars 10 metre line, then been tackled from the Redcar 15. After some great work by Mowdens forwards, we turned the ball over, and a crash ball from the captain Matthew Morgan, making geound, but it resulted in a bad way, with a serious shoulder injury  and he had to go to hospital. Then mowdens 14, Leo Cassidy, picked up the ball from the half way line, running though the Redcar defense, stepping the winger,13 and 15 of Redcar, then a foot face to the line, which resulted in a try. Sam Converted. 22-5.
